Suseo Station (수서역) is Seoul’s southern high-speed rail terminal, located in Gangnam-gu in the southeast of the city. It is the departure point for SRT trains to Busan, Mokpo and other southern cities, and is connected to the subway network by Line 3 and the Suin–Bundang Line, with GTX-A service in the Dongtan direction.

If you are heading south from Seoul by high-speed train, almost every English guide sends you to Seoul Station. But if you are staying anywhere in Gangnam, Jamsil, COEX, Songpa or Bundang, the station you actually want is Suseo Station (수서역), the southern high-speed terminal that most visitors have never heard of.

There are three things about Suseo that nobody tells foreign travellers, and all three can ruin your day if you find out at the ticket gate. Your KORAIL PASS does not work here. The station is in the middle of a construction zone and the car park has moved. And SR’s own English website still lists the old car park.

I went in late August 2026 and photographed the whole thing: the ticket machines, the locker price screen, the departure board, the new car park. This guide covers how to book in English, where the hospital shuttle buses leave from, what the lockers actually cost, and what is currently under construction.

Seoul Station or Suseo? Which one you actually want

Korea has two competing high-speed operators running on partly separate tracks, and they use different Seoul terminals.

• Seoul Station is KORAIL territory. KTX trains, the AREX airport line, Lines 1 and 4. If you are staying in Myeongdong, Hongdae or Jongno, this is your station. We have a full Seoul Station guide as well, and a Myeongdong street food guide for the stalls a few minutes away.
• Suseo Station is SR territory, in the south-east of the city. SRT trains. If you are staying in Gangnam, Jamsil, COEX, Songpa or coming up from Bundang, Suseo is usually 20 to 40 minutes closer than crossing the city to Seoul Station.

SR’s own English page describes Suseo as the gateway connecting Korea’s major cities to “the Gangnam area, which is the heart of Korea’s business, popular culture, IT, leisure, shopping, and medical services.” That last word matters more than it looks, and we will come back to it.

Important: your KORAIL PASS does not cover SRT

This is the single most expensive mistake you can make at Suseo. The KORAIL PASS is valid on KORAIL trains only: KTX, ITX-Cheongchun, ITX-Saemaeul, Saemaeul, Mugunghwa and Nuriro. It explicitly does not cover SRT.

So if you bought a rail pass for your trip and then walk into Suseo expecting to use it on an SRT to Busan, you will be buying a full-price ticket. Two ways to avoid that:

• If you have a KORAIL PASS, travel from Seoul Station on a KTX instead, even if Suseo is closer to your hotel.
• If you do not have a pass, compare both. SRT fares are usually slightly cheaper than KTX on the same route, and from Gangnam the door-to-door time from Suseo is often better.

Since February 2026, a KTX runs from Suseo too

This is new and most guides have not caught up. From 25 February 2026, KORAIL and SR began a trial cross-operation: a KTX now runs Suseo to Busan once a day each way, and an SRT started running from Seoul Station on the same day. The plan is fuller integration later.

You can see it on the platform floor. The boarding position markers at Suseo now carry the KTX logo, not just SRT.

Practical takeaway: it is one train a day, so do not plan around it. Check the actual timetable rather than assuming. And note that whether a KORAIL PASS is accepted on that specific service is a question for the ticket counter, not for a blog. Ask before you board.

How to book an SRT ticket in English

SR runs a genuinely usable English booking site at etk.srail.kr. Switch language in the top-right menu and the whole flow becomes English: Inquiry, Booking, Payment, Ticketing. The homepage even defaults to Suseo to Busan.

Two things commonly go wrong for visitors, so plan around them:

• Identity verification. Korean booking systems often want a Korean mobile number. If you do not have a Korean SIM, you may hit a wall partway through.
• Foreign cards. Overseas Visa and Mastercard are sometimes declined by Korean 3D Secure checks. Have a backup plan rather than assuming your card will go through.

If online booking fails, the station itself is the reliable fallback, and it is not intimidating.

On the left is the staffed counter, which also handles international tickets. On the right is the row of self-service machines for changes and refunds. Bring your passport.

The accessible ticket machine is the easiest one to use

If the standard kiosks feel cramped or the queue is long, look for the accessible voice-guided ticket machine. It has a large screen, a language button, and far fewer steps per screen. I photographed the whole flow.

The menu is Book Tickets, Refund Ticket, Receipt Reissue, Extras. Then you pick departure and arrival stations, then passengers. The passenger screen separates Adult, Child, Senior, Severe Disability, Mild Disability and Veterans, so any fare reduction you qualify for is selectable here without going to the counter.

The seat screen offers General Seat, Wheelchair Seat and Electric Wheelchair Seat. If you are travelling with a wheelchair user, this machine is the fastest way to book the right seat yourself. Pick a date and time, and the departures list appears with fare classes.

Finding your platform

The board shows departure time, train number, destination and platform number together. I was there at 22:18 and there were still trains at 22:20 to Gwangju Songjeong, 22:40 to Busan and 22:55 to Gwangju Songjeong, so late departures are reasonably well covered.

Boarding usually opens 10 to 15 minutes before departure. Check the platform number on the board first rather than going down early. There is also a model SRT trainset on display in the hall, which buys you about ninety seconds of entertainment with a small child.

Luggage lockers at Suseo: the actual prices

If you are checking out of a Gangnam hotel and killing a few hours before your train, the lockers are the answer. Most English pages just say “lockers available”, so here is the price table straight off the machine.

• Small locker: KRW 2,000 for the first 4 hours, then KRW 2,000 per additional block (4 to 8 hours, 8 to 12 hours, and every 12 hours after that)
• Large locker: KRW 4,000 per block on the same structure

So a small locker for an afternoon is KRW 2,000, and most of a day works out around KRW 6,000. The same machine also handles a luggage delivery service. One warning printed on the unit: do not put your bag in a door that is already open. Pay first and use the door that opens automatically afterwards, or you may not be able to retrieve it.

There is a phone charging locker too

Genuinely useful and almost never mentioned. An unmanned charging station with lockable compartments:

• Phone charging: KRW 2,000 (2 hours)
• Power bank rental: KRW 2,000, USB-C and iPhone cables available
• Charging hours: 08:00 to 22:00. Retrieval and power bank return: 24 hours
• Support line: 1522-6411

If you are about to spend two and a half hours on a train navigating in a foreign country, renting a power bank before you board is a very small price for peace of mind.

Hospital shuttle buses: all from Exit 3

This is the part that has essentially no English coverage, and it matters because Gangnam is where Korea’s medical travel happens. Three of the country’s biggest hospitals run free shuttle buses from Suseo Station, and all of them leave from the same place: Exit 3. Come up from the concourse following the Exit 3 signs and the stops are grouped together.

Samsung Medical Center
Weekdays 07:30 to 18:00, roughly every 8 minutes. Saturdays 07:30 to 12:30, roughly every 15 minutes. Closed Sundays and public holidays. About 15 to 20 minutes to the hospital, via Ilwon Station.

Asan Medical Center
Weekdays 08:00 to 17:00, roughly every 20 to 30 minutes. No weekend or holiday service. You must show a same-day appointment confirmation, either the SMS or the printed slip, and it is for patients and accompanying carers only. Have it on your screen before you queue. The route runs non-stop to the hospital’s main car park entrance and started in November 2024.

Gangnam Severance Hospital
Weekdays 07:30 to 17:00 outbound from Suseo, 08:00 to 17:30 returning. Saturdays 08:00 to 12:00. Every 30 minutes, but note there is no 11:30 and no 14:00 departure. Closed Sundays and holidays. If the wait is long, Line 3 to Dogok Station Exit 2 or Maebong Station Exit 2 puts you on a 20-minute shuttle instead.

All three are closed on Sundays and public holidays, so if you land on a Sunday, plan a taxi. Approximate taxi fares from Suseo run roughly KRW 6,000 to Samsung Medical Center, KRW 8,000 to Gangnam Severance and KRW 10,000 to Asan Medical Center, traffic depending.

Getting to Suseo Station

By subway. Line 3 and the Suin-Bundang Line connect directly through an indoor transfer passage, so you never step outside. Allow at least 10 minutes from the subway platform to the SRT platform. It is further than it looks. By GTX-A. The express line serves Suseo, but right now only in the Dongtan direction. The Suseo to Seoul Station section is still under construction and Samsung Station is passed without stopping. You cannot currently ride GTX-A from Suseo to Seoul Station or Paju.

By bus. SR lists routes 101, 402, 2412, 3416, 3425, 3426, 4419, 1007, 5600, 5700, 6900 and village buses Gangnam03, Gangnam06 and Gangnam06-1, stopping at either “Jaenggol Maeul” or “Suseo Station Exit 5, E-mart”.

By taxi. The rank is signposted by the car park. Note the sign at the entrance: app-called taxis cannot enter the car park and must pick up outside it.

Parking, and why SR’s English page will mislead you

If you are driving, read this carefully, because the official English page is out of date.

The SRT Suseo car park moved on 18 December 2025. The current site is 200-3 Suseo-dong, Gangnam-gu, near Exit 3, with 739 spaces.

Current Korean-language rates:

• First 30 minutes KRW 3,000, then KRW 1,000 per 10 minutes, KRW 40,000 per day
• With an SRT ticket: KRW 2,100 for the first 30 minutes, KRW 700 per 10 minutes, KRW 36,000 per day
• A separate 50% reduction applies to small cars, disabled drivers, people of national merit and families with three or more children
• Operator enquiries: Amano Korea 1899-7275

At the time of writing, SR’s English station page still lists 625 spaces at 199-3 Suseo-dong with a 24-hour rate of KRW 25,000. That is the previous car park. If you navigate to the address on the English page you will arrive at the wrong place, so use 200-3 Suseo-dong or simply follow the signs from Exit 3.

One more thing worth knowing: at KRW 36,000 a day even with the discount, leaving a car at Suseo for a multi-day trip gets expensive fast. Bokjeong Station park-and-ride is one subway stop away and considerably cheaper.

Suseo is a construction zone right now

The new car park is a bolted-together steel deck, not a permanent building, and that tells you what is happening around it. The whole Suseo Station area is a development site, and three things are in play.

Suseo Station transfer complex. A KRW 2.3 trillion project to put five rail lines (SRT, GTX-A, Line 3, Suin-Bundang and the future Suseo-Gwangju line) under one roof, with a combined concourse, transfer passages and a department store, offices, officetels, a four-star hotel and medical facilities. It cleared Seoul’s building committee review in 2024 but, as of August 2026, has not broken ground yet.

Suseo-Gwangju line. A 19.4 km rail link to Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province, targeted for 2030, with only part of the route under construction. The Seoul section has been held up by residents’ objections to the alignment running beneath apartment blocks.

GTX-A northern connection. Still being built, still slipping.

For a visitor, the practical version is short: the car park, the taxi rank and the walking routes around Suseo may change again. If you have been before, do not trust your memory. I did, and found out about the car park move from a banner on site.

Where is Suseo Station in Seoul?
Suseo Station is in Gangnam-gu, in the southeastern corner of Seoul, near the border with Songpa. It sits on Subway Line 3 and the Suin–Bundang Line, and all SRT high-speed trains to Busan, Mokpo and other southern cities depart from here.

Is Suseo Station the same as Seoul Station?
No. Seoul Station is the KTX terminal in central Seoul, while Suseo Station is a separate high-speed terminal in southeastern Seoul used mainly by SRT. The two are run by different operators, so always check which station is printed on your ticket.

Can I use my KORAIL PASS on the SRT from Suseo?
No. The KORAIL PASS covers KORAIL services only, including KTX, ITX and Mugunghwa. SRT is run by a separate operator and is excluded. If you hold a pass, travel by KTX from Seoul Station instead.

Can I book SRT tickets in English?
Yes. SR’s booking site at etk.srail.kr has a full English interface with a four-step flow. The common obstacles are Korean phone number verification and foreign cards being declined, so have the station counter as a backup.

Which is better for me, Seoul Station or Suseo Station?
Seoul Station if you are staying in Myeongdong, Hongdae or Jongno, or if you hold a KORAIL PASS. Suseo if you are in Gangnam, Jamsil, COEX, Songpa or Bundang and are buying tickets anyway.

Where do the hospital shuttle buses leave from at Suseo?

The bottom line

Suseo is a calm, modern, easy station, and for anyone based in the south-east of Seoul it is the obvious way out of the city. Just go in knowing three things: your rail pass will not work on an SRT, the English station page is behind on the car park, and everything outside the building is a construction site that will keep changing. Book in English, arrive half an hour early, and it is one of the least stressful stations in Seoul.
