Busan’s hotel scene is usually all about Haeundae. But over on the west side of the city, in Songdo, there’s a newer 5-star worth knowing about: the Wyndham Grand Busan. It opened in September 2023 as the first Wyndham Grand in Korea, and its headline feature is hard to argue with, all 271 rooms face the sea.
We went mid-week with our 20-month-old and, because it was a weekday, the rate was noticeably cheaper than a weekend. It turned out to be a calm, easy family stay, so here’s the honest rundown.
The Location: Songdo, Not Haeundae
The hotel sits at 27 Deungdae-ro in Seo-gu, right above Songdo Beach, Korea’s first public beach and a quieter, more local-feeling alternative to the Haeundae–Gwangalli axis. The Songdo Marine Cable Car and the beach are both about a 5-minute walk. One thing to flag from recent reviews and our own trip: public transport is inconvenient, so a car or taxi is the way to go. Because you’re right by Busan’s port, the view has a twist most ocean-view hotels don’t have, big tankers and cargo ships sitting out on the water, which makes it feel different from a plain sea view.

Lobby and the 1F Bakery Cafe
The lobby isn’t huge or showy, but it’s clean and modern with plenty of marble. On the first floor there’s a bakery cafe (The Deli & Cafe) that’s handy for a quick coffee or pastry.

The Room and That Ocean View
This is the part that sells the hotel. Rooms start on the 7th floor and climb to the 26th, so the sea sits below you rather than across from you. Every category is ocean-facing. The bed was comfortable, and the wood flooring was a real plus with a baby crawling around.

Floor-to-ceiling windows pull the sea right in, and the view of the Nampang Bridge at sunset from the window was genuinely beautiful, with the port’s big ships dotting the water for that extra something.

Bathroom and BYREDO Amenities
Toiletries are the BYREDO Bal d’Afrique line, a nicer touch than the usual house brand. There’s a tub positioned to keep the sea view going, a rain shower, a bidet, and small considered details like the Wyndham Grand patterned bath mat.

In-Room Minibar and Coffee
The room had a retro-style mini fridge, an electric kettle and a capsule coffee machine, plus an air purifier, all easy to appreciate when you’re traveling with a little one. A minibar checklist is provided too.

Traveling with a Baby
If you’re bringing a baby, request the kids’ gear in advance and they’ll set it up in the room. What we could ask for included:
- Baby crib / bassinet
- Bed safety guard
- Baby bathtub
- Bottle sterilizer
- Formula kettle
- Diaper bin
- Bathroom step stool / toddler toilet seat
Quantities can be limited, so it’s best to request when you book.

Pool (5F, Time Slots)
The pool is on the 5th floor and runs in time slots. Per the notice we saw, sessions were 11:00–12:45 / 15:00–16:45 / 19:00–20:45 (open 09:00–21:00). A swim cap is required (available to buy), and there are infant life vests and small floats, which made it easy with our toddler. Re-entry during your stay is free for under-48-months.

Gym (All Technogym)
The 5F gym is fully kitted with Italian Technogym equipment, and since the hotel is new, everything still felt brand-new. The screen-equipped bike lets you ride along to virtual routes, and gym wear is free to borrow (16+).

The Dinner Buffet
We had the hotel’s dinner buffet, and booking ahead got us a small discount. The spread had everything you’d hope for, Beijing duck (kaoya), lobster, lamb, and a wide range of seafood. Window seats look out over the sea, and in the evening the sunset through the glass made it especially nice.

Dessert ran from a chocolate fountain to cakes and fruit, plenty for both kids and adults. If you’re staying over, the buffet dinner is worth booking.

The Verdict
The Wyndham Grand Busan’s pitch is simple and strong: a brand-new 5-star where you don’t have to gamble on the view, you get the sea no matter which room you book, in a calmer, less touristy part of Busan. The wood floors and baby gear made it a great fit for traveling with a toddler, and the port’s big-ship view plus the Nampang Bridge sunset stuck with us. On a weekday it’s good value, too.

If you want Haeundae’s polish without the crowds, especially with a little one, Songdo and this hotel are an easy recommendation.
