LaVALSE Hotel Busan Review | Ocean-View Rooms, 28F Sky Cafe & a Workation Center in Yeongdo

If you’re a foreign traveler wondering where to base yourself in Busan, Yeongdo is an underrated pick: you get that classic Busan harbor scenery (bridges, the sea, the old downtown), it’s quieter and better value than the beach districts, and it’s a short hop to Nampo-dong, Songdo, and Jagalchi Market. Here’s my full review, room, sky cafe, workation center, breakfast, and the famous pizza I ordered in.

📍 Location & Getting There

LaVALSE Hotel sits at the very entrance of Yeongdo (1, Bongnaenaru-ro, Yeongdo-gu), right after you cross the Busan Bridge. It’s about 3.1 km (7 min by car) from Busan Station (KTX), making it handy for your last night before a train out. Taejongdae is about 7.2 km (17 min) away, and a taxi from Gwangalli takes around 20 minutes. Best of all, the Yeongdo street-food (pojangmacha) alley is right in front of the hotel, and the famous Momos Coffee Yeongdo is a 5–6 minute walk.

Driving in, a staff member guides you to the underground tower parking. One small note: because it’s a mechanical tower garage, retrieving your car can take a little while. The lobby ceiling is soaring and genuinely grand, chandeliers, marble, a checkerboard floor, and the ground floor has Cafe Ravel, a lifestyle shop (Lacinata), and a convenience store.

🚪 Hallways & The Elevator-Lobby Ocean View

Even the guest-room floors have a nice touch: the elevator landing is a floor-to-ceiling window, so while you wait for the lift you get a gorgeous view of the Yeongdo Bridge and the sea. Little details like this are where you feel LaVALSE leaning into its ‘view hotel’ identity.

🛏️ The Room, All About the Ocean View

The room opens up to a wide ocean view through full-height windows, and this was the highlight of the stay. You see Busan’s bridges (Yeongdo & Busan Bridge), Jagalchi Market, and the Busan Tower on Yongdusan, a cityscape-meets-sea view that feels different from a plain ‘ocean only’ panorama. If you want an even more immersive view, the Corner rooms reportedly capture the Yeongdo, Busan, and Busan Harbor bridges all at once.

The room is fresh and well-kept, with a robe and open shelving for luggage. At golden hour the sunset light pours right into the room, and after dark the city lights turn it into a different kind of view.

🛁 Bathroom & Amenities

The layout has the vanity outside, with the toilet and shower in separate enclosed rooms. Water pressure was solid and everything was clean. One tip for travelers: toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided, so pack your own.

💼 Global Satellite Center (Workation Office)

As a business traveler, my favorite surprise was the Global Satellite Center, a dedicated workspace for the hotel’s global workation guests. With ocean views through the glass and proper desks, it’s a great spot to open your laptop and actually get work done. Plenty of business and workation guests were using it, and I noticed a lot of international guests too. If you need a focused space outside your room, this is a real plus.

There’s also a coin laundry (handy for longer or business stays) and a gym, though the gym is quite small, so think of it as a light-workout space rather than a full fitness center.

🌇 28F Sky Cafe & Bar · 29F Rooftop

The other highlight is the 28th-floor LaVALSE Sky Cafe & Bar, connected by stairs to the 29th-floor rooftop. Floor-to-ceiling glass on all sides means every seat gets the sea and the bridges, the view here is every bit as good as the room view. It serves coffee, desserts and alcohol, with roomy indoor and window seating. Hours are Sun–Thu 08:00–22:00 (LO 21:30), Fri–Sat 08:00–23:00 (LO 22:30).

On a clear day, step out to the outdoor terrace, the open-air sea view is fantastic. And don’t miss sunset: the sky turns pink while the sea, bridges and city lights come on one by one.

🍕 Dinner In: Lee Jae-mo Pizza

For dinner I ordered in from Lee Jae-mo Pizza, Busan’s most famous pizzeria, pizza plus kimchi fried rice, eaten in the room. Tucking into Busan’s signature pizza with that ocean view out the window? Hard to beat.

🍽️ Breakfast at Aliahnong (3F)

Breakfast is served at Aliahnong on the 3rd floor (07:00–09:30). Honestly, the food itself was fairly standard rather than spectacular, but the glass-walled, ocean-view setting makes the atmosphere genuinely lovely. Expect a small wait at peak times.

It’s a Korean-Western buffet: a salad and fruit corner, hot dishes (bulgogi, mushroom soup), an odeng (fish-cake) bar that’s popular with international guests, a made-to-order egg station, plus bread, tea and coffee. Breakfast runs about KRW 25,000 per adult (KRW 20,000 if booked in advance).

🌃 Right Outside: Yeongdo Pojangmacha (Street-Food Alley)

One of LaVALSE’s best perks is the Yeongdo pojangmacha alley right in front of the hotel. After dark the red tents light up and the whole street comes alive, pair it with the night view and it’s pure Busan. Perfect for a casual drink after a day of meetings.

⭐ Final Thoughts

LaVALSE is a Yeongdo hotel that absolutely delivers on views. The ocean-view room and the 28F sky cafe were the standouts, and the Global Satellite Center plus coin laundry make it a great fit for business travelers and workationers (lots of international guests, too). The gym is small, so keep expectations modest there. Breakfast was average, but the glass-walled ocean-view setting more than makes up for it, and the location near the pojangmacha alley, Momos Coffee, Nampo-dong and Songdo is a big plus.

If you have time, swing by the nearby Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, the indoor fountain show and the rooftop observation deck are worth a look, and they slot nicely into a Yeongdo–Nampo day. For anyone after an ocean-view stay in Busan’s Yeongdo, LaVALSE is an easy recommendation. ✨
