Looking for a free, no-reservation way to cool off with little kids in Seoul? The Mapo Children’s Water Playground at Mapo Community Plaza (in front of Mapo-gu Office) is a great pick. Run for free by the district each summer, it has a foam show, inflatable water rollers, a ball pool and a big “polar bear” dome — plus lifeguards, changing tents and on-site first aid, so parents can relax.

Where it is
It’s an outdoor water-play setup on the plaza right in front of Mapo-gu Office, easy to reach by subway or bus. Mapo runs several sites around the district, so you can pick the closest one. It’s not a giant water park, but it’s plenty for a fun hour or two.
Things to do (foam, water rollers, ball pool, polar-bear dome)
The biggest hit is the foam show — bubbles pour out on a timer and kids run through it. Our little one loved it most.
There are also see-through inflatable water rollers to balance and tumble inside, and a colorful ball pool. There used to be a big slide, but after some safety incidents it was removed — now kids climb the big “polar bear” dome and slide down, which they love.

Safety & facilities
For a free facility, it’s well run. There are separate men’s/women’s changing tents, several lifeguards on watch, and on-site first aid (ambulance) — a big reassurance for parents. Shaded tables and chairs beside the pool are handy for grown-ups.

Swimsuit or rashguard · aqua shoes · towel & spare clothes · water gun · sunscreen & hat · drinking water. Sun is strong midday, so pack a hat and sunscreen; skip the 13:00–14:00 maintenance break.
Our visit
We went with our little one, who especially loved the foam. With the slide gone, the polar-bear dome slide was the favorite. Most of all, the lifeguards, changing tents and on-site first aid made it feel safe — free, no booking, and a genuinely nice outing.
