El Momento Songdo Review: An Ocean-View Residence by Busan’s Historic Songdo Beach & Sky Cable Car

Most travelers base themselves in Haeundae or Gwangalli when they visit Busan. This time I did something different: I stayed with my parents for two nights at El Momento Songdo, a residence-style hotel in the quiet seaside neighborhood of Songdo on the west side of the city. It quickly became one of my favorite residences in all of Busan.

Wide ocean views, a full kitchen, generous space, and — my favorite part — a sea-facing terrace, all at a very reasonable price. Below I cover not just the hotel, but also what Songdo is and how to enjoy Songdo Beach and the marine cable car right outside the door.

Where is Songdo?

Songdo sits in Seo-gu, on the western coast of Busan, about a 15-minute taxi ride from Busan Station and the Nampo-dong / Jagalchi area. If Haeundae and Gwangalli are the big, busy resort beaches, Songdo is the calm, local-feeling seaside — ideal if you want to avoid crowds and relax by the water, especially with family or parents.

Songdo Beach — Korea’s first public beach

Songdo Beach is widely known as Korea’s first official public beach, with a history going back over a century. Recently revitalized, it’s now a clean, charming cove with calm water that’s perfect for a stroll. Two highlights: the Songdo Skywalk (Cloud Trails), a walkway that stretches out over the sea, and a suspension-bridge trail leading to a small islet just off the beach.

Songdo Marine Cable Car (Busan Air Cruise)

One of El Momento Songdo’s biggest draws is that the Songdo Marine Cable Car — the “Busan Air Cruise” — is right in front of the building. It runs over the sea between Songnim Park and Amnam Park, and the views of the coastline are superb. Some cabins have transparent crystal floors for an extra thrill. We rode it ourselves, and looking down at Songdo Beach from above was the highlight of the day. (Check the official site for current hours and fares.)

Why stay in a Korean “residence”?

Korea has many residence (serviced-apartment) hotels that combine hotel convenience with apartment-style living: a full kitchen, washing machine, and a spacious living area. They’re especially good for families and longer stays. El Momento Songdo is exactly this kind of place, so we could settle in and relax like a home away from home.

El Momento Songdo — the building

The building looks like a sleek, Singapore-style high-rise apartment. It’s easy to find — literally the tower right next to the Songdo cable car.

Location & how to get there

Address: 9 Deungdae-ro, Seo-gu, Busan (Amnam-dong). It’s about 15 minutes by taxi from Busan Station or Nampo-dong. There is no subway station within easy walking distance, so taxi or car is best. Parking is free for one car per unit (tower parking); register your car via the KakaoTalk channel on arrival. Luggage storage is available at the El Momento office (Room 304, 11:00–22:00) before check-in and after check-out.

Contactless check-in

Check-in is contactless: from around 15:50 on arrival day, you receive your room number and door code by text. We were assigned Building 102, Room 3409. Check-in is 16:00 and check-out 11:00.

Good to know: by Korean regulation, single-use items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and laundry detergent are not provided, so bring your own. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are in the room.

The living room — floor-to-ceiling ocean view

Open the door and a wide living room unfolds; pull back the curtains and the sea is right there. Being a residence, it’s far roomier and more comfortable than a standard hotel room — perfect for spending relaxed time with family.

A full kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped: induction cooktop, sink, a complete set of dishes, glasses and cutlery, a Nespresso machine and kettle, plus a washing machine. Great for both short trips and longer stays.

The bedroom (twin beds)

The bedroom has two single beds, so my parents could each sleep comfortably. Open the curtains here too and the sea greets you first thing in the morning.

A white marble bathroom (with an ocean-view tub)

The bathroom is done in a bright white marble tone, with an ocean-view bathtub and a separate shower booth. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided.

The highlight — a terrace facing the sea

My favorite space of the whole stay was the terrace. Sitting there with my parents over morning and evening coffee, looking out at the Songdo sea, was genuinely special. A seaside walkway stretches out in front, and there are restaurants nearby for easy meals.

Ocean views from day to night

The view changes beautifully through the day — open sea and the cable car by day, glittering night views after dark.

Final thoughts — a great-value ocean-view residence for a calm Busan trip

El Momento Songdo brings together a spacious residence, a full kitchen, an ocean-view terrace and excellent value — with Songdo Beach and the marine cable car right outside. If you want a quieter, view-first side of Busan instead of busy Haeundae, I recommend it without hesitation. It’s one of my favorite residences in Busan, and I’d happily return.
