Resom Resort Jecheon Family Review (RESTREE G50): Forest-View Rooms, Have9 Spa & Uirimji Lake — Near Seoul

If you’re looking to escape Seoul for a nature-filled family getaway, Resom Resort in Jecheon (about two hours southeast of the capital) is a fantastic pick. We went with a 32-month-old toddler and a friend’s family — six of us total — and stayed in the RESTREE tower (Tower Clean building), room G50. Tucked into a forested mountain valley, the resort pairs fresh air and forest views with plenty for kids to do. Here’s our full family review, from the room to the Have9 Spa, plus the view-worthy restaurant “Deulbap-ae” and nearby Uirimji Lake.

✈️ How to Get There (for Travelers)

Resom Resort sits in the mountains of Baegun-myeon, Jecheon, in Chungcheongbuk-do. It’s fairly remote, so renting a car is by far the easiest option — it’s roughly a 2-hour drive from Seoul. Without a car, take a train (Mugunghwa/ITX) or an intercity/express bus to Jecheon, then a taxi to the resort (about 25–30 minutes). Everything on-site is spread across a large complex, so a car also helps for day trips to spots like Uirimji Lake.

  • Address: 365 Geumbong-ro, Baegun-myeon, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do
  • From Seoul: ~2 hrs by car (recommended)
  • By transit: train/bus to Jecheon + ~25–30 min taxi
  • Building: RESTREE “Tower Clean” — easy indoor access to parking & the breakfast hall

🛎️ Check-in Tips

The lobby is spacious, grand, and airy — a great first impression. One useful tip: rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early and waiting can score you a better view. Official check-in is 3 PM (early check-in carries a fee). The lobby also lends out wagons/carts, which were perfect for wheeling the little ones around while we waited to check in.

🏞️ Grounds & Garden

Out front, a breezy fountain plaza opens to green mountain ridges all around. Walking paths wind past a small pond and garden — lovely for a slow stroll hand-in-hand with the kids.

📚 Lobby Book-Café & Kids’ Play

A highlight was the book-café connected to the lobby — laid out like a small bookstore, it was a lovely spot for the kids to flip through books. The indoor kids’ zone “Little Mountain” costs extra, so we only peeked in this time, but it looks worth it if you have the time. The older kids also enjoyed the arcade.

🍚 Deulbap-ae — Great View, Honest Take

For lunch we tried Deulbap-ae, the Korean restaurant inside the resort. The forest view through the floor-to-ceiling windows was stunning. Honestly, the food itself was just okay and portions were a little small — but the view made up for it. It serves hansang-style Korean set meals (spicy stir-fried pork, salted dried croaker, soy-marinated crab, grilled mackerel), with an all-you-can-refill side-dish & dessert corner and even a kids’ tteok-galbi option, so it works fine for families.

🛏️ RESTREE G50 Room Review

Room G50 has a generous layout — a living room plus two separate bedrooms — so it comfortably fit two families. The living room has a sofa and TV, the dining area seats six, and the mini-kitchen has a microwave, mini-fridge and electric kettle (note: no full cooking). One bedroom is a double, the other a twin. Best of all, the forest view from the windows was gorgeous — pulling back the curtains in the morning fills the room with green mountains.

Traveling with a baby? The resort rents baby gear like high chairs and baby bathtubs, which cut our luggage way down. If you have a little one, the Tower Clean (RESTREE) building is the more convenient choice for getting around.

💦 Have9 Spa & Water Park

The Have9 Spa was busy, but it has a variety of thermal baths plus a water park, so the kids had a blast. The standout is the outdoor infinity pool where you soak while gazing at the forested mountains — the view is incredible. There’s a kids’ zone and a light snack corner too, so it’s easy to spend half a day here.

🍗 Dinner In-Room (Dwaeji-Gukbap? No — Fried Chicken!)

After all that swimming, we didn’t feel like heading out, so we did dinner in the room via delivery. We ordered from a locally famous sweet-and-crispy chicken (dakgangjeong) spot, “Dungji Chicken” — it was a total hit, deservedly popular. We also tried jokbal (braised pork trotters) and bibim-mandu (spicy dumplings) from the resort’s own dumpling restaurant: the jokbal was so-so, and honestly we’d skip the bibim-mandu. Tip: we wanted the makgeolli bansang room-service set but it was sold out — if it interests you, order it in advance.

🌅 Day 2 · Uirimji Lake (Great Tonkatsu Out Front!)

After check-out we drove to Uirimji Lake, one of Jecheon’s most famous sights — and a genuinely special place. Built during Korea’s ancient Samhan period (over 1,500 years ago), it’s one of the oldest surviving man-made reservoirs in the country and is designated a National Scenic Site. Today it’s a scenic lakeside park ringed by centuries-old pine and willow trees, with an easy walking loop of roughly 2 km — perfect for a relaxed stroll with kids.

There’s plenty to see around the water: musical fountains, a traditional lakeside pavilion, the small Yongchu Falls, and the popular Uirimji glass-floor observatory that juts out over the lake for a fun little thrill. It’s especially beautiful with cherry blossoms in spring and fall foliage in autumn. Bonus: the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant right in front of Uirimji was surprisingly tasty — worth a stop if you’re in the area!

⭐ Final Thoughts

All in all, Resom Resort Jecheon (RESTREE) combines mountain-forest calm, a great spa, and plenty for kids — a really satisfying family getaway near Seoul. The G50 Tower Clean room is ideal for two families traveling together, and pairing the stay with view-restaurant Deulbap-ae (go for the view!) and Uirimji Lake makes for a well-rounded 1–2 night trip. We’d love to come back when the autumn leaves turn 🍁
